Parish Nursing

We have a free Parish Nursing Service in partnership with Parish Nursing Ministries UK. The Parish Nurses are Registered Nurses with the Nursing and Midwifery Council with training in adult mental health and general nursing. We offer timely holistic supportive and preventive nursing care that reduces isolation, maintains health and wellbeing, prevents deterioration, and oversees recovery.

Parish Nursing Service on alternate Mondays and Tuesday 10.30-3pm at Central Hall, 2 West Tollcross, Edinburgh, EH3 9BP

We are supported by a national charity, Parish Nurisng Ministries UK. If you would like to know more about this charity or Central Church, please ask your Parish Nurse or have a look at their websites.

What do Parish Nurses do?

The Parish Nursing service does not replace the care you receive from the NHS, but we can be an additional support. The following areas are some of the things we can support you with:

  • Mental health issues such as anxiety and depression
  • In relation to isolation and loneliness
  • Recovery from addictions
  • Health education e.g., after a diagnosis, or if living with a long-term physical condition.
  • Signposting, advocacy, support to access help or health information.
  • Listening
  • Spiritual aspects of health
  • Blood pressure, pulse and oxygen saturations checks, weight and BMI calculations.

The Parish Nursing Service is available for people of all faiths and none.
