Parish Nursing
We have a free Parish Nursing Service in partnership with Parish Nursing Ministries UK. The Parish Nurses are Registered Nurses with the Nursing and Midwifery Council with training in adult mental health and general nursing. We offer timely holistic supportive and preventive nursing care that reduces isolation, maintains health and wellbeing, prevents deterioration, and oversees recovery.

What do Parish Nurses do?
The Parish Nursing service does not replace the care you receive from the NHS, but we can be an additional support. The following areas are some of the things we can support you with:
- Mental health issues such as anxiety and depression
- In relation to isolation and loneliness
- Recovery from addictions
- Health education e.g., after a diagnosis, or if living with a long-term physical condition.
- Signposting, advocacy, support to access help or health information.
- Listening
- Spiritual aspects of health
- Blood pressure, pulse and oxygen saturations checks, weight and BMI calculations.
The Parish Nursing Service is available for people of all faiths and none.
How do I get to see a Parish Nurse?
You can be referred by one of Central’s Care Ministries, another health or social care professional or you can refer yourself by leaving a message at the numbers above.
What happens after I am referred to a Parish Nurse?
Your Parish Nurse will do a health needs assessment. Together you will develop a plan of care. This information, with permission, will be stored securely following Data Protection legislation. All data will be kept confidential and only seen by the Parish Nursing Service, unless there is a concern for your welfare or the welfare of someone in your care, in which case the Parish Nurse has a duty of care to address this. You will be asked to sign a consent form for your information to be stored securely.
